Without the proper support, your mental state can go crumbling down, and it can be a massive problem for you and the baby you are carrying. Some people think that mental health issues during pregnancy only happens to the woman. The truth is that even men can develop mental health problems because they are part of the pregnancy, as well. Here are some issues that both men and women can have during pregnancy:

  • Depression – depression develops even before pregnancy for a lot of reasons, and the common reason for that is lack of human interaction. For pregnant women, hormones are imbalanced, and you do not know how to deal with the feelings you are having right now. This can also happen to your spouse or partner, especially if they don’t know how to deal with the stress they are feeling.
  • Anxiety – this can also be developed during pregnancy or even before pregnancy. If a woman did not plan her pregnancy, the tendency is that she can develop anxiety. She will worry about how to be a good parent or that she doesn’t know how to take care of a baby. A husband or partner can also develop anxiety because he can have doubts about not being a good enough spouse or that he cannot provide for a baby. 
  • Bipolar disorder – this problem is also possible to develop during pregnancy. This can also happen to both the mom and dad, for they can have negative feelings even before the pregnancy progresses. If it is not diagnosed and treated correctly, the hormones will spike up because of the pregnancy. It may make this disorder worse.
